AITO Responsible Tourism Awards
AITO's annual awards ifor Responsible Tourism.
Only AITO members qualify for these awards
"Long recognised as a leader in Responsible Tourism, AITO requires every member to appoint a Responsible Tourism Manager who ensures adoption of guidelines set by the organisation. AITO operates a recognition system for its member companies in the field of RT, attributing between one and three stars to each company. Three stars is the top achievement and indicates that a company has fully integrated Responsible Tourism into all aspects of its business and destination work. Currently 19 companies meet these high standards and can lay claim to the coveted three stars – but all AITO members are required to meet AITO’s basic RT standards and thus qualify for one-star accreditation.
To ensure that AITO’s RT programme is kept fully up to date, a dedicated RT committee of members and advisors reviews progress and maintains AITO at the forefront of thinking. To find out more about the 140 AITO specialist tour operators and their RT initiatives, visit www.aito.co.uk. " |
